The legal framework for mediation has been created in Kyrgyzstan

Due to the recent entry into legal force of the law on mediation a roundtable discussion “Actual issues of mediation and providing legal assistance in the Kyrgyz Republic” was held in the conference hall of the Supreme Court on February 27, 2018.

The Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic Ainash Tokbaeva, judges of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic and local courts, representatives of the Jogorku Kenesh, state bodies, mediators and lawyers took part in this event.

As noted by Aynash Tokbayeva, in order to prepare for effective use of the mediation institute in dispute resolution, the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic and the National Mediation Center have launched a pilot project “Mediation in Legal Disputes: Practice and Prospects”, which involves 11 Bishkek city and Chui region courts.

Mediator Hulsina Kozhoyarova shared the current affairs and further plans for the development of mediation with the participants of the roundtable discussion: “At thу moment about 300 mediators have been trained at the basic course and more than 1000 people have received direct information about mediation. In remote regions of the country there are no mediators and it is necessary to increase their number. ”

Most of the time was spend for new law on mediation and discussion of the options for creating the basis for further development and promotion of mediation.

At the end of the event, the Head of the board of National Mediation Center, mediator Hulsina Kozhoyarova presented letters of gratitude to several active mediators of the country.
