On January 10, 2018, the President of the Republic of Belarus signed the decree No. 9 “About the Approval of the Preparation Plan of Draft Laws for 2018”.

Based on the accumulated experience, it is planned to develop a law on changes in the Civil and Civil Procedure Codes, as well as the Marriage and Family Code.

The Council of Ministers and the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus have been appointed responsible for drafting the law. The draft law should be prepared up to November 2018, and the project is planned to be submitted to the House of Representatives in March 2019.

From these changes, it is expected that before going to the court spouses (former spouses, parents), which have disputes concerning marital property and children, will be obliged to take mediation or information meeting with a mediator.
